Hungarian Club Membership

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL APPLICANTS

All new membership applications must be nominated by an existing member of the Hungarian Club of SA. If the nomination section of the application form is not completed, the application will be automatically declined.

If you do not yet know current members who can nominate you, you are warmly welcome to attend our public events — such as Goulash Night — as a guest. These are great opportunities to get to know the community and connect with members. Follow us on our Facebook page to stay updated on upcoming events.

For those who are unable to find a member to nominate them, the Committee may consider an application for Associate Membership. If this applies to you, please contact the Secretary to have a conversation about your options before submitting an application.

ABOUT MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the Hungarian Club of South Australia is a meaningful commitment and not just a social benefit. Members are expected to be familiar with the Club Rules and to uphold the Objects for which the Club is established.

We encourage all prospective members to read the Club Rules in full before applying.

The Objects of the Club

As set out in the Club Rules (extract), the Hungarian Club of South Australia is established for the following purposes:

2.1 To promote goodwill amongst residents of South Australia of Hungarian origin or extraction and between such residents and other members of the community.

2.2 To promote and encourage community engagement in a broad spectrum of cultural events and activities, particularly of Hungarian origin, extraction or social connection.

2.3 To do everything necessary to provide for the recreation, enjoyment, comfort and benefit of its members.

2.4 To take all such steps as may be necessary or desirable to enable the Club to be duly licensed pursuant to the Liquor Licensing Act 1997 or any amendment thereof.

2.5 To establish connections with, support, join or merge with any other club or association whose objects reflect those of the Club, where the relationship will support the objects of and be of benefit to the Club and its members.

2.6 To ensure that the Club's significant artefacts, archives and special items of Hungarian heritage (including honour boards, display items and the Memorial Rock) are always respectfully displayed, honoured and maintained on the Club's premises.

We warmly welcome members who share our values, whether you were born in Hungary, have Hungarian heritage or connections, or have a deep and genuine interest in Hungarian culture and community life here in South Australia. Where members are able to volunteer their time and skills for the benefit of the Club and the broader Hungarian community, this is greatly appreciated and encouraged.  Members are able to express interest in volunteering to assist the club here.

MEMBER BENEFITS

Members enjoy access to our Clubrooms and Hall, early bird access to special events, and exclusive members-only events. Members also have exclusive access to purchase our selection of imported Hungarian beers, wines, spirits, and gastronomic delicacies to take away and enjoy at home. Limited secure undercover parking is available at our premises.
